Big Apple Barbecue Block Party 2017: See the Line Up

The Big Apple Barbecue Block Party — one of the nation’s premiere barbecue events — is slated to return to Madison Square Park on June 10 and 11. In celebration of the 15th year, the charity event benefitting the Madison Square Park Conservancy will host 15 pitmasters from nine different states this summer. The free event is a chance for New Yorkers to sample some of the country’s finest barbecue right, and it’s incredibly popular.

Many standbys of previous editions of BABBP will return, like Ayden, North Carolina whole hog pitmaster Sam Jones of Skylight Inn, brisket smoker Scott Roberts of Salt Lick BBQ from Driftwood, Texas, and local favorite Billy Durney of Hometown Bar-B-Que.

South Carolina legend Rodney Scott of Scott’s Bar-B-Que, who didn’t attend last year but has participated in the past, will be slinging his whole hog barbecue at BABBP this year. Jonathan and Justin Foxowners of theAtlanta-based Texas-style barbecue, Fox Bros Bar-B-Q, one of Atlanta’s essential restaurants, will be joining the barbecue for the first time.

As with every year, the event is free for people to come and purchase barbecue for the restaurants of their choice, but meat fanatics can opt to buy a FastPass for $150, which allows access to express lines and $100 towards food, or a VIP pass for $275, which offers $100 for food and a shaded area with an open bar. Tickets can be purchased here.
