The Wood Show Broiler: What to Know Before You Buy
The Wood Show Broiler is more than just a grill. It is both a workhorse for your kitchen and a centerpiece for your restaurant. It can be the star of your kitchen or the hardest working member of your team. The Wood Show Broiler can be found in restaurants all over the world including fine dining establishments and steak houses like Wolfgang Puck’s Spago, and John Tesar’s Knife. It fits right in at Tex-Mex and burger joints like The Original Ninfa’s and Pono Burger. Even pitmasters like Billy Durney at Hometown BBQ use our Wood Show Broiler to compliment their smokers.
Tell Me More
Our standard Wood Show Broiler is a Santa Maria style grill with a large lifting wheel that can raise or lower the cast iron grates giving the operator more control over the cooking process. The firebox is made of 2” of high temp refractory metal surrounded by 2” of fiberglass insulation. This is all enclosed with a durable treadplate. The structural components are made of heavy duty steel which sets up the Wood Show Broiler to outlast all of our competitor’s products.
What Are the Specs?
The standard widths are 36”, 48”, 60”, and 72”. When planning the perfect fit for your kitchen, keep in mind that the actual grilling surface is always 12” less than the overall width of the unit. One of the many perks of working with J&R Manufacturing is we understand the need for a custom set up! We can make the Wood Show Broiler in custom sizes both larger than 72” and anywhere in between the standard sizes. The Wood Show Broiler can be built to fit whatever size space you have.
The standard unit can be configured with the lifting wheel on the left or right hand side to fit your kitchen layout. The lifting wheel can also be removed to create a stationary grill grate. Optional accessories include back and side splashes, shelves with or without pan cutouts, and wood storage. In addition to black or red treadplate options, a flat brushed stainless steel exterior is also available.
Customizing the Grill to Fit Your Needs
In addition to the optional accessories, we can also add custom features. The most popular custom feature is the split grill. We can take our Wood Show Broiler and divide it into two separate sections each controlled by its own lifting wheel. Our clients can choose to make the split 50-50 or any ratio that you prefer. The two sections can either share one continuous firebox or they can have their own separate fireboxes.
Like we mentioned, we love building custom grills to make sure our clients get exactly what they need. Other custom features we offer include:
- A smoker box
- Hanging racks
- Adjustable warming racks
- Open burn area
- Rear cabinet option
- Raised andirons at the rear of the firebox
- Shallow firebox option
- Single spit rotisserie
- A full or partial refractory surround
Another option to consider is adding a 4, 6, or 8 spit rotisserie or a churrasco rotisserie to the side of your Wood Show Broiler making it a side-by-side combo unit. This allows your chefs to explore and expand what they’re creating and wow your customers time and time again.
Not seeing the custom feature you’re envisioning? No problem! We’d love to incorporate your ideas for a custom Wood Show Broiler. Let us know what you need, and we’ll make it a reality.
